"yoga is only ever a practice"
(Kate Ashley 2016)
Here you will find details of yoga classes and yoga therapy interventions.
Chris trained in India and the UK he is an 800 hour Yoga Alliance qualified yoga teacher, a British Council for Yoga Therapy and Minded Institute accredited yoga therapist. He is also a member of Yoga In Healthcare Alliance. Chris began his yoga journey several decades ago, but began teaching in earnest to young offenders in the community and secure estate while working in criminal justice for over thirty years. He spent several years teaching Hot Yoga in Essex before moving into other yoga disciplines such as Ashtanga, Yin, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Meditation, Yoga for Autism and Trauma Sensitive Yoga. Chris has an ethos that somewhere within we all have a yoga practice, often it takes our experiential life experiences for it manifest. This ethos has led Chris to work with a range of populations including young people, refugees, cancer patients - including end of life care, people living with psychosis, addiction, stress, anxiety and depression. Students often say that Chris has a deep spiritual aspect to his practice, while never taking himself too seriously. He has the ability to weave yoga philosophy, neurology, physiology and humor all into one class while ensuring the practice is as every bit as personal and invitational to the student as it needs to be. Most importantly Chris aims to make students feel safe and at ease when they take that incredible step onto a yoga mat, be that for the first time or students who have a life long practice.
Chris is fully insured, affiliated to Yoga Alliance and has a current DBS.
Stepping on the mat
It takes tremendous courage to walk into a yoga space and step on a mat.
